The Diver’s Dress
Some underwater tasks, like inspection, welding and construction, require human hands. The people charged with building, maintaining, or repairing navigation structures have had to develop diving skills and “take the plunge.” A practical diving dress and helmet were perfected around 1840, using air supplied from the surface. Modern equipment has changed only slightly from the 1920’s-era pump and suit shown here.
After suffering a hard drive crash on my computer, I am finally back up and running again! 🙂
I hope that everyone is well, and that I am able to catch up with all of you, and your wonderful photographs, very soon! It’s going to take me a little bit of time I think. 🙂
Thank you all for taking the time to look! -Dina 🙂
