Illumination

Strolling through the woods in early fall, I was enjoying the late afternoon sun streaming through all the gorgeous colors of the leaves. I noticed this little branch was still mostly green, but it was so neat, the way the light illuminated the leaves and veins. It was in such contrast to all the other brightly colored leaves, and yet it seemed to stand out and wanted to be noticed for its own special beauty. :) The little branch with the green leaves was the reason I took this shot, but after I uploaded it to the computer and really looked at it - I loved the way the colorful leaves...

Stand Out In A Crowd

I took this photo at an outdoor concert this summer. The sun was starting to set, and the shadows were getting longer. I loved the warm tones and the great textures on the wall...and then of course the one shadow that stood out compared to all the rest. I hope you like it too! :)   *Please be sure to click on the photo for full size viewing.

Autumn’s Carpet

AUTUMN'S CARPET   Linger now before me; Leaves of oak and elm Maple and sycamore; Spread your blazing carpet Brilliant in russet and gold Light my path before me In overlapping splendor Oh do unfold!   Linger for a while now In shades of red so bold Until the grip of winter Bears down and chills me With its cold,   Let me step upon the leaves Hear the crinkling sound Crunch your leaves beneath my feet Let me bask In the beauty that surrounds   ~by Nancy Ellen Crossland

Secret Staircase

On this island there does lay a secret staircase for all to play;   Where shadows fall from fortress walls and overhead for all to hear - thunder calls loud and clear;   Between the place bikes go for keeping and native people once went sleeping, find the entrance you are seeking;   Have you found the stairway yet? If not, please search some more, but do not fret, for one must think to break this code - a sharp mind is all that's owed;   Near the stairway that you seek stands a man that does not speak; straight and tall...

Dreamland

This was originally a light pink colored rose. I loved the way it was shaped so perfectly, and all the petals were opened so beautifully, but it had a few little flaws that took away from its beauty somewhat. I had the idea of doing it in black and white, to see if it might hide the blemishes on the petals a little bit. As I worked on it, I liked it more and more, and somehow in black and white the blemishes seemed to "add" something to the image instead of taking away from it. :) I really love how the center part of the rose looks almost like a pencil sketch. I hope you like it too!...

Play Days

Located in the Sunken Garden at the Como Park Conservatory, “Play Days” is a 1925 sculpture by Harriest Frishmuth. “Play Days” is a nude, probably modeled after the dancer Desha Delteil. The “Play Days” figure is tentatively testing the water where four frogs are spouting water and real goldfish swim in the pool. It’s a playful and graceful sculpture, which matches its surroundings. Children consistently gather at the figure’s feet, trying to get as close to the goldfish as possible. Thanks so much for stopping by to look! Have a great day! :)

Colour My World

I was out taking some shots of the beautiful fall leaves on the trees, when I heard a rustling sound directly over my head. I didn't have the correct lens on to get this shot as close as I would have liked, but it was just so cute when I saw this little guy peeking at me surrounded by all those glorious colors, that I had to take the shot anyway. I hope you like it! :)

I Found Nemo!

Thirty species of Clownfish are recognized. In the wild they all form symbiotic mutualisms with sea anemones. Depending on species, clownfish are overall yellow, orange, reddish or blackish, and many show white bars or patches. The largest can reach a length of 18 centimetres (7.1 in), while the smallest barely can reach 10 centimetres (3.9 in). Clownfish are native to warmer waters of the Indian and Pacific oceans, including the Great Barrier Reef and the Red Sea. While most species have restricted distributions, others are widespread. Clownfish live at the bottom of shallow seas in sheltered...

He Loves Me Not

I noticed the missing petals from the flower on the bottom left, and was immediately reminded of plucking the petals from a flower as a little girl, repeating the phrase, "He loves me, He loves me not..." Happy Friday everybody! :) Thanks for looking and have a great weekend!   (Be sure to click on the photo to see the large size image!)
